Foreign currency worth Rs 20.71 lakh seized at Mangaluru airport

Foreign currency notes worth 20.71 rupees were confiscated at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), customs officials said Wednesday.

The banknotes were illegally transported by two of him from Kasaragod, Kerala. On Monday, when the seizure took place, they attempted to smuggle the currency out of the country to Dubai on SpiceJet flight SG 59.

Currencies hidden in the package included notes worth US$13,200, UAE dirhams 31,800, Saudi Riyals 16,000, and Kuwaiti Dinars 160. According to a press release, the incident was registered.
